MEMBERSHIP
ALES shall not discriminate against
prospective or current members on the basis of religion, political
belief, gender, income status, race, or marital status.
ALES has four classes of membership – council,
associate, student, and honorary:
1. ‘Council’ Membership (“Member”)
A Council member shall be an individual who holds a minimum Bachelor’s
degree from an accredited institution in engineering, computer science,
or architecture, or an individual who holds a minimum Bachelor’s degree
from an accredited institution in any other fields and practices or
teaches in the field of engineering, computer science, or architecture.
A Council member shall be an individual with Lebanese nationality or
from Lebanese descent. A Council member shall be an individual who
supports the purpose, objectives, and mission of the Society. A Council
member shall have full rights to vote in the affairs of the Corporation
and otherwise enjoy the benefits of membership as from time to time
defined by resolution of the Board of Directors.
2. ‘Associate’ Membership
An ‘Associate’ member shall be an individual who generally supports the
purpose of the Corporation but does not otherwise qualify as a Council
or Student member. An Associate member is an individual who holds a
minimum Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent). An Associate member may enjoy
the benefits of membership as from time to time defined by resolution of
the Board of Directors but shall not have a right to vote in the affairs
of the Corporation.
3. ‘Student’ Membership
A Student Member shall be an individual currently enrolled in a
full-time engineering, computer science, or architecture program in an
accredited institution, and who is of Lebanese nationality or descent. A
Student member shall be an individual who supports the purpose,
objectives, and mission of the Society. A Student member may enjoy the
benefits of membership as from time to time defined by resolution of the
Board of Directors but shall not have a right to vote in the affairs of
the Corporation.
4. ‘Honorary’ Membership
An ‘Honorary’ member shall be any person who, by resolution of the Board
of Directors, is deemed to have given distinguished service or support
to the Society or to its mission and objectives or to have accomplished
an outstanding achievement in his/her profession and contributed to the
advancement of the engineering, computer science or architecture fields.
An Honorary member shall enjoy such entitlements to benefits and votes
as from time to time defined by resolution of the Board of Directors. An
Honorary membership shall be indefinite unless revoked by a resolution
of the Board of Directors.
